Owlfit of the Week

It's Christmas!!!  I've been a bit slow on sharing the old Christmas jumpers and now I realise I have lots to share and little time to do it!  I have a December birthday, so growing up, Christmas didn't start until the day after my birthday, which meant no decorations, Christmas song or clothing for the first two weeks of December... then WHAM straight into the Christmas spirit!

So here's how Little Owl has been going about for the last few days!  The hat was knitted by LittleOwl's Fairy God Mother for her first Christmas, so chuffed that it still fits!

I'm in love with the Snuggle Fleece from Frugi.  All Frugi snuggle fleeces are reversible, with printed cotton on one side, and this lovely snuggly fleece on the other!  Until this week, Little Owl has been wearing this the other way round, but the fluffy white fleece feels very festive!  They are quite expensive at £30 but hard wearing and a generous fit so I'm sure we'll get a lot of wear out of it.  I was lucky to pick this one up in a flash sale that Frugi had about a month ago, I think I got 20% off.

The trousers are from the Little Bird range at Mothercare.  You might have noticed by now that I have a soft patch for cord trousers so couldn't resist these flares from Little Bird for £12.

Finally, Little Owl's beautiful boots from Livie and Luca!  You may remember me debating over whether to get the pink or blue pair a few weeks ago, well I went for the blue.  These will feature loads over the coming weeks, so expect a more detailed review soon, for now, just know that I love them!

Oh - there is one more thing - you might just spot a red bell on Little Owl's boot, it was one of the gifts in her advent calender, and its bit of a tradition of having festive bells on your boots in the Owl household!

Owlfit of the Week

I love it when an Owlfit comes together unplanned and looks amazing!  The brown 'bear' dress is a hand-me-down from Gap and I've just been unsure as to whether I like it or not.  Its been in storage for a year or more, been washed at least twice, moved around in the wardrobe and finally been sat in the 'dress drawer' all lonely for several weeks.

My mum bought the top from Boots a few weeks ago as part of a set of 3, and this one is my favourite.  I know I don't normally go for pink, but the grey stripes and the mustard edging on the neck are great, so when I spotted the matching tights I grabbed them.  The tights also came as a set of 3, but the other two pairs don't match the other tops!

Anyhow - I'm dead chuffed at how these all look together - and her mustard shoes from Livie and Luca set if off perfectly!

Owlfit of the Week

Raaaah!!!!  This was a bit of an accidental outfit which I actually quite like!  My mum came home with this funky Bear top from Boots (£7) a couple of weeks ago and I wasn't sure as it was a 'boys' top.  I don't mind dressing Little Owl in unisex or boys clothes but I have found that some boys clothes are just a bit too wide for my skinny girl, but as you can see, the fit is great!
I've teamed it up with some cute cub gloves from Mothercare, for £5, which I was disappointed to find were labeled 'boys'. Little Owl's fingers do just fit and she's very excited to own them!

The trousers are hand-me-downs and the labels have all been cut out so I've no idea where there came from, but I do quite like them!  The shoes as ever are Livie and Luca... which brings me to my next thing...  I want to get Little Owl so new boots for the winter, I've kinda fallen for these lovely boots from Livie and Luca
Aren't they the most beautiful things you have ever seen?  The only problem is which ones should I get?  I was thinking of the blue ones but I made the mistake of showing Little Owl and she wants the pink ones!  I'm gutted, I thought I had at least another year until Little Owl discovered pink, but maybe it is just because these pink boots are actually gorgeous?

Pink or Blue?

Blue would go better with the oranges and yellows in Little Owls wardrobe maybe?  But the pink is just fun and bright...

Pink or Blue?

Owlfit of the Week

I can't tell you how long I have waited to share this dress with you!  Actually I can and I will!  I bought this fabulous Me&i dress at The Baby Show in February 2013!  Little Owl was just 9 months old but I fell in love with it and the smallest size they had was 98/104!  There's a range of opinion as to what age 98 is, some say age 2 while others say 3.  Little Owl is two and a half next week and I'd say she is a 98 currently and is growing out of her size 92s.

I've teamed it up with a pair of orange tights which matches the neck as well as the stems in the apples, and her mustard shoes from Livie and Luca.  This is definitely one of my favourite Owlfits of the moment!

Owlfit of the Week

Orange is happiness!  Seriously - is there a better colour?  Or is it just my dutch roots talking?  I bought this lovely outfit in India (surprise surprise) and I love it!  Both the top and the leggings are from a department store called Westside and are aged 3-4 as Indian children tend to be a bit smaller, especially across the shoulders where Little Owl is quite broad.

The kurta or top fits perfectly and has lots of pretty detailing in pink, the opening of the neck is lined with pink and there is a pink tab which buttons up the sleeve (unfortunately this had been pulled down by Little Owl before I could take the photos).  The leggings are very baggy around the ankle which is the fashion in India but with the elasticated waist, it also means there is PLENTY of growing room - at least 6 inches in height!  The leggings were a complete bargain at Rs250, about £2.50 so I bought 4 pairs in different colours - look out for the others over the coming weeks!

Finally, the shoes are from Livie and Luca, and her socks are from M&S.

Owlfit of the Week

Here's another fun owlfit from last spring that (just about) fits.  The trousers are slightly flared cord which makes Little Owl's legs look even longer than normal!  They were hand me downs from a friend and I don't know where they came from.

The top is one of 3 long sleeved t-shirts that I bought in M&S last winter - I'm pretty sure that they were the last in her size when I ordered them online.  I'm now wishing that I had bought them in the next size up and Little Owl wears them loads but they are getting a bit short for her!

The mustard cardigan from M&S and the mustard shoes from Livie & Luca you may recognise from last week's Owlfit, and are firm favourites!

Owlfit of the Week

Autumn is creeping in - Little Owl has shoes on!  And what pretty shoes they are but I shall get to them in a minute.  The dress comes from Westside, an Indian department store.  I love the colour and pattern and it hangs beautifully.  I'm not sure if it is going to work with tights but its great during this transitional period.  The only thing I'm not so keen on with the dress is how low the neck scoops at the front which is why I like to team it with a cardigan.

The mustard cardigan is from M&S, its amazingly soft and lovely.   I was keeping an eye out for them going into the sale as I thought I might buy it in bigger sizes but it never happened - Marks have kept it in this seasons stock too!

So now its time for the shoes!

Aren't they just lovely?!!!  They are Mustard Ruche from Livie & Luca and I love them! I have a bit of a confession... Little Owl had some of these earlier in the summer but they didn't get worn much due to the lovely warm weather, I went to put them back on her as the weather cooled and she had grown - 2 sizes!  I was gutted as I really felt we hadn't got to wear them much - so I bought a second pair in the right size!

The soles are squidgy soft which is something I love about Livie & Luca shoes, and the velcro strap makes them easy to get on and off and also slightly adjustable on the width.  The socks are from M&S and come in a pack of 3 (the others are red and mustard!).

So here we are - the start of autumn!  I've got my eye on lots of new clothes for Little Owl - if you want to see what I'm looking at, check out my pinterest board.

Owlfit of the Week

You might recognise these shorts from an Owlfit a few months ago.  I bought them in TK Max and Little Owl wore them loads last autumn before growing out of them.  When I shared a photo of her wearing them for an owlfit, I wondered if she could fit in them now she is out of nappies - well as you can see she can!  They aren't going to fit for much longer but I'm so pleased that I squeezed a bit more wear out of them!

The green smock was from a set of four from Marks & Spencers which have been worn and worn and worn this summer - definitely a good purchase!  The jacket is a hand-me-down from H&M, and of course, the shoes are from Livie and Luca.

Owlfit of the Week

As the summer is fading away, you'll start to see more cardigans and jackets appearing over Little Owl's summer outfits until I finally give in and accept that summer has gone.  This weeks Owlfit is another funky design from Me&i.  The dress is actually a tunic but I deliberately ordered it in a size too big so that Little Owl could get maximum wear out of it.

One of her previous tunics started out as a dress with tights under, we then progressed to leggings when it was getting too short and I suspect it will be out again this winter with jeans.  The shape of the shoulders and neck have been designed to grow with the child so its not obvious that its too big at the moment.  It doesn't hang quite as nicely as the actual dresses from Me&i which I think are stunning, but with the addition of the denim jacket I think this looks great.

I wish I had managed to get a picture of Little Owl with her sunnies and straw hat too as she looked like a proper little rock chick!  The jacket is a hand-me-down from H&M and the shoes are from Livie & Luca.

Owlfit of the Week

This is Little Owl's third and final Monsoon outfit of the summer.  I've been saving this one to show you as its been worn to a couple of weddings over the summer, and I didn't want to splash it about before hand.  This dress is just lovely, the bright colours and patchwork design makes it really interesting.  It hangs beautifully and really flares out when Little Owl twirls, in fact, it was really hard to get a picture of Little Owl as she wouldn't stop dancing.

As usual, Little Owl is wearing her Livie and Luca sandals.  However, there was another pair of Livie and Luca shoes that would have looked stunning with this dress, I just couldn't justify buying them for a couple of wears!

See what I mean?  They were made for this dress!

Owlfit of the Week

As we are in Holland this week, I thought it only right to share one of Little Owl's Dutch outfits that I bought on our last trip here in June.  Both the hoody and the shorts come from a shop called Hema which is a department store selling low priced products.  It was only after I bought them that I spotted the label on the shorts saying 'boy' - oh well!  I love the wide waist band on the hoody and the big cuffs, which as well as looking good, help to keep Little Owl snug too!

The hat from H&M is beginning to look a bit small (I think its age 6-9 months) and is soon to be put away, and with the recent cooler weather, I suspect the days of the Livie and Luca sandals are numbered too!  But not to worry - I've just ordered Little Owl some more Livie and Luca shoes!

Owlfit of the Week

I love this Cath Kidston dress!  I bought it in one of their stores in Windsor, March of last year and if memory serves me correctly, it cost £18 which I was pleasantly surprised by.  I bought it for Little Owl's baptism which was in May last year, just after she turned one.  It is an age one dress, so I was really pleased when it fitted her still this summer.  It comes with a matching pair of pants which work great on their own or over a nappy.

Now British Summer being what it is, you can't often get away with a sleeveless dress, so I team it up with this white cardigan from H&M.  At her baptism, Little Owl also wore white tights with this dress, and white shoes from H&M.  These sandals are from Livie & Luca.

Owlfit of the Week

This.  This is Little Owl's Owlfit of the summer!  I was so excited when I ordered this, that when it arrived I wasn't sure if it was going to live up to my expectations but it does!  This beautiful two piece outfit is from Monsoon and cost £22 (but is currently half price in the sale).  As a friend said to me "its just so Little Owl".

As I have said previously, I am new to buying clothes from Monsoon but I am so impressed with the quality.  The shorts have an elasticated waist which is very stretchy (sometimes I find they can be quite stiff but these aren't at all).  The straps on the top button onto the front and they have two sets of button holes allowing for growth!  Going further than that, the straps are currently crossed over at the back and so the top could last even longer if they went straight over!

Can you tell that I love this Owlfit and want Little Owl to be in it for ever?!!!

The sunglasses are also from Monsoon and the shoes as ever are from Livie and Luca.
